Whenever I worried that my attention span was crushed to dust from our modern distractions. Yes, I have that worry too. It was so nice to read of someone else who could say chapter 133 of Moby Dick was really thrilling😊. All is not lost🤓. The emoji used for Ahab cursing was funny 😠. Thank you Kristen enjoyed you recaps immensely.
I got a little side tracked with work the last few weeks and didn't manage to keep up, but I just finished and wanted to pop back in and say thank you. I'm not usually a commenter on this sort of thing; I'm more of a lurker. But this was immensely enjoyable to read along with a group (mostly) in real time and see what other people thought. I definitely enjoyed this wonderfully weird novel way more this way than if I had tried to power through over the course of a week or two and because of that, I was able to appreciate its oddities instead of letting the draggy bits ruin it for myself. I've had a really beautiful copy (the fake leather bound Barnes and Noble one) on my bookshelf for a very long time and it is immensely satisfying to finally finish it. Thanks for such an amazing Moby Dick Summer 😊
I nearly wept reading that final recap. This was a journey. Thank you for bringing us along. I don’t think I could have read Moby Dick without you. It makes me think that doing Don Quixote in the same way would have made reading that one almost worth it. Almost.
I feel super sad that it’s over and also super proud of us all for finishing!! I’m going to miss these recaps - they were always super insightful and well written! I got so much out of this book and I really feel like it was a huge benefit to read it with a group so thank you all so much!!
